Materials for the Preparation of UM99 Camera-Ready Manuscripts

The UM99 proceedings will be published by the publishing house Springer Wien New York and formated according to a style based on the style of the series Lecture Notes in Computer Science of Springer-Verlag, Heidelberg/Berlin.

How to Decide Which Text Formating System to Use

  • If at all possible, use LaTeX 2e or Microsoft Word. Detailed template files and instructions have been developed and tested for both systems. They were used for the UM97 proceedings.
  • If you use another system, you will have to follow the printed UM99 instructions carefully in order to set the necessary parameters.

What to Retrieve

For all authors

Retrieve and print a PostScript file with specific instructions for the preparation of UM99 camera-ready manuscripts:

For LaTeX and Word users

Retrieve and install on your working subdirectory a template file that produces the above-mentioned instructions and can be used as a starting point for the new version of your manuscript:

For LaTeX users only

Retrieve and install on a LaTeX input-file directory the following files:

  1. The basic class/style file supplied by Springer-Verlag
  2. The style file with adaptations for UM99
  3. The bibliography formating file with adaptations for UM99

Note: The last two files have names starting with "um97" because they were originally developed for UM97 and no changes have been found necessary.

(Optional, for those who seek further advice on typesetting details:) Retrieve and print a PostScript file (21 pages) with Springer-Verlag's own detailed advice for users of its LaTeX style files:

What to Do If There Are Questions or Problems

With questions about the use of the template and style files, send e-mail to Anthony Jameson (jameson@cs.uni-sb.de).

With all other questions, send e-mail to the UM99 program chair and proceedings editor, Judy Kay (judy@staff.cs.usyd.edu.au).
