Grades
· Homeworks - 50%
· Midterm - 25%
· Final - 25%
Homework will be assigned roughly every other week. Each homework and programming assignment may include extra components. If you are enrolled in CMPT 829, you are required to complete these components. If you are enrolled in CMPT 485, these are optional and will be counted as a bonus.
Late Policy
Homeworks and programming assignments will be due a week after they are assigned. 20% is automatically deducted for every day late. You get one get out of jail free exemption, where you can turn in a homework assignment one lecture after it is due with no penalty. You must send me an email to activate this exemption. You cannot combine this with the 20% deduction policy. If a homework is due Monday and you turn it in on Thursday, you will still be deducted 60%, even if you try to use your exemption.
Collaboration Policy
You are encouraged to discuss the homeworks and programming assignments with other students, as long your programs and writeups are done separately. As a rule of thumb, at no time should you find yourself looking at the code or writeup of another student. If you find relevant ideas or information on the web, you are free to use them in your assignment, but you must cite the source, otherwise it will be treated the same as copying another student’s work.
