In addition to their individual research, many of the faculty have formed research groups to enhance the research effort of the Department.
Simulation Research Lab
The simulation research lab specializes in finding efficient techniques for solving scientific and engineering problems, in particular time stepping for ordinary and partial differential equations. Applications include computational fluid dynamics, simulation of electrical activity in cardiac tissue, robotics, and optimal control. The lab is also home to the only multi-person AccessGrid node on campus.
ARIES is a focal point for research projects in the area of intelligent tutoring systems and adaptive learning environments.
The DISCUS Research Group conducts research relating to performance issues in distributed computing systems including: client/server systems, computer networks, wireless computing, multimedia systems, and eCommerce systems.
The HCI research group investigates ways to improve human interaction with computer systems. Established research areas include information visualization, computer-supported cooperative work, and interfaces for information retrieval. Our web site contains project descriptions, publications, demos, and software downloads.
