Annual Graduate Symposium on Computational Science

1988/1989 marked the beginning of the Annual Graduate Symposium on Computational Science. CMPT 880 and 890 are supervised research courses, designed to expose students to research methods and paradigms and to provide an opportunity to explore potential research topics under the direction of a faculty member or members working in that area. Each student has to complete one paper, titles of which are presented in the following. For the 880 students, the research involves a thorough literature review and synthesis, some independent investigation of the problem and the presentation of the work. CMPT 890 is taken by Ph.D. students and focuses on the student's research interests. As a result, more depth and originality are expected from their papers. In addition to literature review and synthesis, their independent research should lead to something interesting and of value in their chosen area. All presentations are grouped into a one day symposium.
