Abstract

The transition from stand-alone to networked to mobile computers has broad implications for learning, as well as the production and distribution of educational software. I will discuss exemplar systems we have built including authoring tools, learning communities, and a vision of learning technologies future. Platform evolution is accelerating, driving fascinating new directions in education research as well as related areas. The business implications of these changes are also noteworthy.

About the speaker

Jim Spohrer received a B.S. in Physics at MIT (1978) and a Ph.D.in Computer Science at Yale (1989). Jim was named an Apple Distinguished Scientist in 1996. Jim has led research teams creating:
