The Visual Interaction Platform is a tabletop augmented reality system that enables different natural interaction techniques such as writing, sketching, manipulating and navigating in 2D and 3D data. The VIP platform builds on human skills of real world object manipulation and allows unhindered human-human communication in a collaborative situation. There are different versions of VIP tailored to support individual and group tasks. The system is being used for both research and educational purposes. In this talk I am going to present different research projects that were done on this system and introduce some new on-going projects.
Dr. Dima Aliakseyeu is a researcher at the Department of Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. He got his PhD in 2003 from the same university on Human-Computer Interaction. He holds a Master of Science degree in radio-physics and electronics from Belarusian State University in Minsk. His research interests include novel interaction techniques for digital tables, tangible user interfaces and human-computer interaction.
