This page links to old versions of the curriculum and prerequisites for courses that existed in 2008W or earlier. For most students, this information is irrelevant. We provide this information for convenience and historical providence. We also link to advising sheets as they appeared over the years.
In general, students are advised to follow the requirements for the program that is currently in place. However, a student may follow the program that was current when they were admitted to the university.
The most recent major revision was made in 2007, at which time CMPT 250.6 was split into 270.3 and 280.3, and prerequisites were changed as a result of this split. If a student took CMPT 250, then the student was advised to follow the program as it existed prior to 2007. Those students who took CMPT 270 were advised to follow the 2007 program.
The 2005 versions of the advising sheets reflect revisions in the requirements for all B.Sc. degrees. Basically, the language requirement was dropped, the Humanities requirement was modified to require a course with a lot of essay writing, and 3 cu science was added. Students who began their programs in 2005 may complete their programs using either the 2005 or 2007 version of requirements.
A major new curriculum for Computer Science undergraduate programs was introduced as of Summer 2004. Students registered in a Computer Science program before 2004 may complete their programs under either the 2004 version or the before 2004 version. During the 2004 revisions, several courses from the previous curriculum were replaced or renumbered (see curriculum course equivalences).
Course Equivalencies
A student cannot have credit for corresponding courses in the Old and New columns in the table below. A course in the Old column can be used in place of the corresponding course in the New column for the purposes of meeting a prerequisite requirement or graduation requirement in the new program. Also, a course in the New column can be used in place of the corresponding course in the Old column for the purposes of meeting a graduation requirement in the old program.
Although they are not equivalent, there is enough in common between CMPT 330.3 and CMPT 214.3 that a student cannot take CMPT 214.3 for credit if the student already has credit for CMPT 330.3.
