Areas suitable for Meditation

Areas suitable for Meditation The stupa at Cunda is surrounded by grassy areas and trees that might be suitable for meditation, but it could elicit uncertain reactions from the many locals that wander freely into the site to investigate foreign visitors.

Overal Comments

This is the site of a large stupa thought to commemorate the house of Cunda, who fed the Buddha his last meal. The form of the stupa is definitely recognizable but is not well maintained. There is now a Muslim structure on top. There are, however, a few old Bodhi trees -- perhaps testimony to the flora surrounding the original stupa.
