Previous Life in Academia
I completed my Ph. D. in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science at the
University of British Columbia. I was a
member of the Distributed
Systems Group while lecturing in the department of Computer Science
at UBC for the 1998-1999 academic year. My thesis topic was "The Design, Implementation and Evaluation of a
Variable Bit Rate Continuous Media File Server for a High-Speed Network".
This work and the remainder of the project is further described in
the Distributed
Continuous Media Filesystem Project.

Other Stuff
Sports
Winter Sports: I still play hockey, though not very well. I curl as well,
at Nutana and a couple of bonspiels a year.
Summer Sports: Seems that all I can get to is golf, and then not all
that often.
Music
Music: There's time for a bit of guitar and piano on the side, but not
as much as I'd like. See update on the personal page for music
developments.
Personal
Here is a page with some other of my personal
interests.
