Mitacs Business Strategy Internship

The Mitacs Business Strategy Internship (BSI) program is designed to facilitate Innovation in Canada with the help of post-secondary institutions and student talent. Companies and organizations leverage $7,500 + GST into a $15,000 4-month internship unit to receive expertise from a student. For internship periods longer than 4 months, please apply for multiple units within one application.

Important notes about getting started:

  • Companies may top-up the salary directly through the BSI if the intern should be paid at a higher rate.
  • International students are eligible.
  • The application template is available online.
  • Applications are accepted anytime.

Student Work Placement Program (SWPP)

The Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) is a wage subsidy for post-secondary students engaging in work experience related to their field of study.

Employers may be eligible to receive wage subsidies of up to $7000 per student hired for each 4-month work term. This program is a great fit for employers who are creating new opportunities for students in technology. 

Note: this funding is not available for international students working on a co-op work permit.

This program brings together employers, students, and post-secondary school stakeholders to create quality work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities.

Supporting tech-immersive roles across different disciplines and functions, including Marketing, Strategy, and Data & Tech.

The WIL Digital subsidy is is available for employers hiring an eligible student as an employee in a position relevant to the digital economy.

This program is available to employers creating a work-integrated learning opportunity for positions or businesses that have a biotechnology or healthcare focus.

This program is for small or medium-sized businesses, start-ups, social enterprises, nonprofits, or charities that employ fewer than 500 people. 

CAHRC’s "AgriTalent" program supports the development of connections between post-secondary students, employers in agriculture and post-secondary institutions and contributes towards preparing a job-ready workforce for the Canadian agriculture industry.

"Gearing Up" is a work-integrated learning (WIL) program for Canadian employers involved in the mining and mineral exploration sectors.
