Emerging Agriculture Hackathon

Canada's original agricultural Hackathon is going digital in 2021!

Emerging Agriculture is a non-profit organization based out of the University of Saskatchewan. Our hackathon is held annually in January, with the goal of identifying challenges in the agricultural industry and proposing technological solutions. We bring students, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals together to collaborate and innovate.

The 7th annual hackathon is virtual this year. The first meeting occurs on Dec 8 for particpants to meet each other and the event organizers. In January, another Zoom meeting will be organized for participants to receive mentorship from professionals in the ag industry. Pitches will be conducted over Zoom on January 12 and live awards will be presented on January 15.

If you want to contribute to the future of agriculture and technology, there's no better time than now!

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event that fosters innovation and collaboration with the goal of expanding technology development. Current challenges in the agricultural industry are identified and tech solutions are proposed. Participants will be given a fixed amount of time to launch a design before presenting it to a panel of industry professionals.

Who are we looking for?

Anyone with interest in: computer science, engineering, agriculture, commerce. If you don’t have any background in one or more of these areas, that’s ok! We have mentors that can help you, and participants will have the opportunity to form teams with others that have skillsets that complement their own perfectly.
