Eric Neufeld Origin Story: Just Lucky I Guess

On Wednesday, November 27th, Eric Neufeld will be sharing his backstory with us.

This fall, Eric Neufeld is celebrating 50 years since starting at the University of Saskatchewan as a student in the fledgling Department of Computer Science. Coming from a small prairie town, university was daunting, and he took what turned into a gap decade of hitchhiking, odd jobs and construction work as he reconsidered his options. His eventual return to campus was greeted with another culture shock but also a life lesson in how to make university work. Not only did he complete his B.Sc. in Computer Science in just under 14 years, he went on to graduate studies here and at Waterloo then returned to Saskatchewan to enjoy a fulfilling research career in graph theory, artificial intelligence, computer graphics and enjoyed (nearly) every moment. That’s another life lesson, which will be shared along with the world’s most beautiful contrapositive.
